International Programmes

Colegio Internacional Terranova is the only educational institute in San Luis Potosí that offers three of the International Baccalaureate® (IB) programmes. The IB’s primary aim is to develop international-minded students who are conscious about what unites them with other human beings and the responsibility that they share in taking care of the planet while contributing to the creation of a better and more peaceful world. In addition, the programmes aim to help develop students who can think critically, challenge assumptions and communicate in more than one language.

What is the International Baccalaureate® (IB)?

It is an organization that offers international educational programmes to schools around the world.
The IB was founded in Geneva in 1968 and today this office is the global hub.
The IB offers the IB Diploma Programme which is recognized and respected by universities in Mexico and around the world.

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is for students 3 to 12 years old (kindergarten to grade 6) and is centered on the whole development of the child and their capacity for inquiry and discovery both in the classroom and the world around them. The PYP is flexible and transdisciplinary in order to accomodate national curriculum requirements and offers students the best preparation for continued studies in the Middle Years Programme (MYP).

The Middle Years Programme (MYP), aimed at students in grades 7 to 10 and offers a learning framework that encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge and encourages students to make connections between traditional disciplines that they study and the real world. The programme builds on knowledge, skills and the attitudes developed in the PYP and prepares students to face the academic challenges in the IB Diploma Programme.

The Diploma Programme (DP) is designed for students in grades 11 and 12. The DP is a demanding and balanced educational programme with rigorous assessment methods. The DP is an excellent way for students to prepare for post-secondary studies and encourages students to actively participate in an increasingly global society. The programme is recognized and is respected by the leading universities in Mexico and around the world.
